Art Lessons

One-to-one art lessons are designed for new learners from secondary school age upwards who who want to improve their drawing techniques and have fun covering a wide range of subjects.  Emphasis is on enjoyment and offers pupils a lot of choice of subject matter where possible, but we will still cover lots of techniques and can prepare you for an exam or competition entry if that were desired.

These lessons are usually via zoom (or occasionally ‘plein air’) and will fill you with confidence to build your technical skills and become more creative.  We share the reference piece I’ve prepared on screen and draw it together using the techniques discussed first.  These lessons are stimulating and fun and as we have one-to-one time, we can cover a wider range of topics than school.

We can cover; symmetry, spheres, perspective, blind contour, continuous line, pointillism, shading, texture (fur/hair/fabric), backgrounds, composition, portraits, (clothed) life-drawing, still life, highlight on dark paper, elements of art, art history, tone, proportion, balance, speed drawing and action/movement. Subjects you may like to cover these techniques with are; animals, people, plants, buildings, boats, cars and other still life objects.

Art lessons can be either 30, 45 minutes or an hour.  Longer is recommended to get more done in the time and therefore this is at a slightly cheaper rate than music lessons.
